The Beauty of Spring
There is still almost a month left of winter, but I’ve got spring on the brain. That’s the irony of February-It’s the shortest month of the year, but sometimes it feels like it’s the longest!
There is so much anticipation with the coming of spring! I think I start getting this antsy feeling when the new year hits; maybe that’s why so many of us feel the need to purge and clean things out after the holidays?
We want to start fresh.
We want to feel refreshed.

Use Flowers to Feel Refreshed
Nothing makes me feel refreshed more than flowers. I LOVE fresh flowers in my house, but I have a black thumb when it comes to indoor plants. I tend to kill them….all. The ones that manage to survive (ahem, me) do so on their own accord- I take no credit. (My track record shows that!) Lucky for me, artificial flowers are quite pretty these days. (I mean, nothing compares to real, but for those of us that need a little extra help, it’s nice to have something that won’t go to Kaput!)
Make a Spring Wreath
Today I want to share a wreath that is super simple to make. If you’ve been around a while, you know that “simple” is basically the requirement for all of the projects on the blog. [wink]
No Skills Needed- Just Like Birthday Candles
I shared another wreath here. It takes about 5 minutes to make, but if these two wreaths were family, this new one would be its cousin. Literally, if you can push birthday candles into a cake, you can make this wreath. All it takes is a grapevine wreath and a lot of tulip bunches and you are ready to rock and roll (or wreath and roll).
Wire Clippers for the WIN!
The “hardest” part of this project is cutting the tulip bunches into separate stems. The biggest tip I can give is to use wire clippers (or a multipurpose tool like the one I swiped from my husband’s tool bag). I have tried using regular scissors to cut faux floral stems. Just say no! It makes the project take waaaayyyy more time (and a lot more arm “umph” – but it could count for a great arm workout, so there is that, but girl, just “treat yourself” and get some wire clippers).
Once all of the tulip branches are clipped, it’s just a matter of pushing them into the wreath. No, really! That’s why I was saying that if you can push a birthday candle into a cake, you’ve.got.this.
Wreath Rule: One Direction, Baby!
The only thing you have to remember is to have your tulips go around the wreath in the same direction. (And in this case, less IS less. Don’t skimp on the tulips. More is more in this situation, my friends! Too much of a good thing IS wonderful when it comes to tulips. (I don’t know if flowers can actually represent specific feelings, but to me, tulips are “happy” flowers. And we can all use more “happy” in our lives, right!?)
Making a Wreath: Size & Simplicity Matters
To give you an idea of the size of my wreath. I used a 20 in grapevine wreath and about 13 bunches of tulips. I think what makes this wreath so pretty is its simplicity: you only need one type of flower to create something pretty.
When you are getting your supplies to make this wreath, REMEMBER: Never EVER buy anything from a craft store at full price! There are always, always coupons to use or sales to take advantage of. The tulip bunches were 50% off on sale from Michales for $2.
Make Your Own- You GOT This!
Have you seen the cost of pre-made wreaths lately?? It’s a good thing I wasn’t chewing gum when I priced them because I would have choked. Death-by-chewing-gum isn’t the way I would want to go….But when you, a completely unsuspecting shopper, turn the price tag over on a wreath and see $79.99 (as the sale price), you are taken just a little bit off guard. (At least I am.)
That’s why it’s always exciting to be able to make your own…for LESS! Then you can punch your fist up in the air and sing, “Too legit, too legit to quit….hey, heeeyyyy.” (Or in this case, your wreath might say, “Tu-lip. Tulip…” ok, you get the idea…. Happy wreath making, friend!

You’re so sweet Marilyn. The pictures on the blog are all the “pretty ones.” There have been many a time where I have cropped all of the “other stuff” out of the picture. I love sharing projects that can make a house feel like a home. Your comment was so sweet and was just the encouragement I needed. Thank you!

Yay! I can now let you know I love the white tulip wreath, and your method in a grapevine wreath is WAY easier than how I made one with the ribbon wrapped around a straw wreath.
Morgan says
Yes! Grapevine wreath for the WIN! I’m all for easy around here!
