Hi there friends! We’ve been enjoying some unseasonably warm temperatures here in Virginia the last couple weeks and it’s gotten me thinking about SPRING! (Most of those warm days have been raining, but if I squint really hard I can almost imagine that it’s getting brighter outside….)
I love looking for signs of spring. Little shoots of hyacinths and daffodils popping up, birds chirping, and daylight lasting longer. I also like adding seasonal touches around the house. I’ve noticed a trend lately that I’m willingly going to admit I am partial to: hoop wreaths.
Hoop Wreath Trend
There’s something about the simplicity about them that I like. I’ve been thinking about making one for a while now and this week decided to go for it. This was inspired from seeing Erin’s picture of her master bedroom on Instagram. Here’s a link to a post on her blog, Cotton Stem, where you can see her beautiful hoop wall. (Hoop wreath goals peeps!)
I love making crafts and thought this one would be perfect- and less than 5 minutes later, I was done. Ha! So, if you are looking for a craft that will give you some time to “decompress”, this probably isn’t it. BUT, you could make one of these sweet little wreaths, be done, and then grab a book and your favorite beverage (or donuts….). It would even leave time for a little binge watching on Netflix. (Speaking of which, what are your favorite shows on Netflix lately? I need some new recommendations!)
This seriously has to be the easiest wreath I have EVER made. And that’s saying something because I’ve made some easy ones….(Like the boxwood wreath here.) I’ll go ahead and give you a quick run down of the things I used, but it will probably take longer to read this than to actually make it. [wink]

Materials Needed for Floral Hoop Wreath:
- Embroidery Hoop (Mine is actually an old, pretty, vintage one of Grandma’s. I was the only one in the family that really did any sewing, so it got passed to me!)
- Floral wire (if you aren’t using a special embroidery hoop, you could also use hot glue, but the wire will be fast and also keep your fingers from getting burned. NOT that I would have any experience in this area. Ahem. #crafterbattlewounds #ihavegluegunscars
- Sprigs of faux flowers and greenery (Because you need SO LITTLE to make this, you can actually just pilfer some off of something you already have and nobody will be the wiser. If you are doing a larger hoop wreath, you might not want to go all “Viking Style” and pillage and plunder your floral arrangements, but for a small hoop like this, you only need a tiny bit. (I used some tiny wildflowers and also a sprig of faux rosemary.)
- twine (This will be used to cover the wire once you are done.)
How to Make a Hoop Wreath (aka “3 Steps and You’re Done”)
- Gather your flowers in a tiny bunch and wire them onto one side of your embroidery hoop.
- Gather another little bunch of flowers and wire them so they are like a mirror image of (directly across from) the other little bunch.
- Wrap wire with some twine and knot in the back to secure.
- Find a spot to display your little wreath.
Easy as pie! (As an aside, why is that a saying? Making a pie from scratch isn’t something I would call easy….easy like… cereal for dinner? Now THAT makes more sense to me.
I love making things that don’t cost anything and actually come out looking cute! (That’s reason enough for some of that pie we were just mentioning.) If you did want to make this and don’t already have a hoop, you can find one for about $1 at a craft store. What color flowers would you use on your hoop wreath?

So pretty! I always love your creativity Morgan! As far as Netflix… When Calls the Geart is my new fav. It unfortunately only has 4 seasons on Netflix and they have left me hanging. Not cool.

HEART not Geart…. sheesh

I will have to look it up! Thanks for the recommendation! Is that the one with Catherine Heigl? I have watched something with her in it where the role surprised me….
