Does this happen to you too? You see something in a store and think: “That is SUCH a good deal! That would be GREAT to use for a little craft project!” And then you don’t do anything with said “good deal” for 8+ months. Sigh. Anybody? Please tell me I’m not alone!

Want a year-round decoration that is super EASY to out together and will look great all year? Click to the post to see how the simplest way to make these topiaries.I guess I was just getting the pesky “mental work” out of the way so I would be ready when the time to craft came!

This happened with 2 sets of boxwood balls I got on clearance at Aldi last year. (Yes! Aldi!)  Well, they finally got to have their “moment” this week! This was SUCH an easy DIY, with most of the items for this project costing less than $1! So how can you go wrong? That’s a rhetorical question. [wink]

Grab your glue gun and get craftin’ with me!

Gather Your Supplies:

  • floral foam/ “oasis” (Be sure to get the kind for faux flowers. I got mine at Dollar Tree.)
  • dowel rod, cut to desired size
  • reindeer moss (I got mine at Dollar Tree.)
  • boxwood balls (I used 2 different sizes)
  • flower pot
  • glue gun, hot glue sticks

Now to Work on Your Mad Topiary Skills

  1. Cut floral foam to wedge into pot. (If you’ve never worked with this before, it’s a tad messy, but easy to cut with a regular knife. Just press hard and it will squish nicely in and stay put. You can add some glue at the bottom of your pot before adding the floral foam, but I didn’t need it.)
  2. Add a dot of hot glue in the center of the floral foam and stick your dowel through the foam to secure in place.Want a year-round decoration that is super EASY to out together and will look great all year? Click to the post to see how the simplest way to make these topiaries.
  3. Add your boxwood balls and space at desired heights and add a dot of hot glue to secure. (The ones I used had a styrofoam center, so the dowel rod could easily be pressed through them.)Want a year-round decoration that is super EASY to out together and will look great all year? 4. Add hot glue to the top of the floral foam (in the top of the pot) and spread the reindeer moss to cover the floral foam.
  5. Ta-da! All done!

Want a year-round decoration that is super EASY to out together and will look great all year? Click to the post to see how the simplest way to make these topiaries. It really is THAT simple. I like that these topiaries can be used year-round. I really DO love changing the mantle up seasonally, but it’s nice to be “lazy” now and then and just enjoy something simple.Want a year-round decoration that is super EASY to out together and will look great all year? Click to the post to see how the simplest way to make these topiaries. I feel like “simple” is a word I have been craving lately. I tend to make things more complicated than they need to be.
