Unplug and Reconnect
Time spent together is time well spent. It’s hard to find that time sometimes. For as much as technology has made things easier, it also has made things more distracting. Taking time to “unplug” away from phones and tablets is important. One of the easiest and fastest ways to connect with others is to turn everything off and play a game. You need no extra supplies, no pre-planning, just grab a box of cards or game board and GO!

Don’t Overthink It: Keep Things Simple
Spending time together as a family was what I had in mind when creating this gift guide. To make it even simpler I decided to narrow it down and only make a list of the best card games I could find. (I was looking for card games that kids of all ages would enjoy playing with their parents. My two “bigger” kids are 4 and 10. That’s a big age gap, so it’s awesome when I find games that they will BOTH enjoy!) The following card games are ones that my family either already owns, came highly recommended, or are on my list of games to buy.
Sometimes I make things way too complicated. I feel the need to make things “Pinteresty” (it’s a made-up word, but you know what I mean, right?). But guess what? Memories can be made without all of the “extra,” so give yourself permission to buy a couple of the games listed in this gift guide and spend some fun time together!

Thanks so much for your nice comment, Deb! We love playing games before bedtime. I’m excited to try some of these. We are in a “Candy Land” rut right now and I feel my brain cells slipping away….Ha! But I’d much rather play Candy Land than do art projects with glitter….THAT takes way more patience than I have!
